KOLKATA (Reuters) - Tata Motors Ltd said on Thursday the southern state of Karnataka had offered land for a plant for its Nano car after the firm was forced to suspend work in West Bengal due to violent protests.

LONDON (Reuters) - Lloyds TSB's takeover of UK rival HBOS was not a shotgun marriage or a government brokered rescue of its rival, and the banks have been in talks for several weeks, Lloyds' chief executive said.
